ICLVS Legal Intelligence LLC ("we") operates the macOS application Lexcase (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle, how we handle it, and your rights.
1. Quick summary
- Lexcase does not collect personal information on our servers.
- All information about your cases, contacts, notes, calendar and finances lives exclusively on your Mac.
- Lexcase does not track your activity or share data with third parties.
- Lexcase does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, Firebase or any telemetry service.
2. Information the App handles
Lexcase stores locally on your Mac the following information you enter yourself:
- Contacts: name, ID number, phone, email, address, notes.
- Cases: case data depending on its type (judicial, administrative, immigration, business, rental, real estate sale).
- Calendar: hearings, deadlines, tasks and meetings you schedule.
- Notes: notes attached to cases.
- Finances: fees, expenses and transactions per case.
All this information is stored in the App's private data container on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/com.lexcaserd.app/) and never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
3. System permissions Lexcase requests
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Calendar | Sync hearings and deadlines with macOS Calendar, if you choose to enable it. |
| Contacts | Import contacts from macOS Address Book, on your request. |
| User-selected folders | Let you choose a folder where the App writes automatic backups. |
| Notifications | Alert you when hearings or deadlines are approaching. |
| Internet access | Query the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) exchange rate for the Finances section. |
All permissions can be revoked from System Settings → Privacy & Security on macOS.
4. Internet connections
Lexcase makes one optional internet request:
- Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD): the App queries
https://www.bancentral.gov.do/to fetch the daily exchange rate and convert USD/EUR amounts to DOP in the Finances section. This request does not send any of your information — it only retrieves a public rate.
Lexcase does NOT communicate with our servers, does NOT upload your data to any cloud, and does NOT download additional code.
5. Sharing information with third parties
Lexcase does not share any of your information with third parties. We do not sell data. We have no advertising partners. We embed no analytics.
6. Data export and import
The App lets you:
- Export a backup in JSON format to a location you choose on your Mac.
- Import a previous backup, restoring your data.
- Delete all local information at any time from Settings or by uninstalling the App.
7. Security
Your data lives in the App's sandbox container on your Mac, protected by macOS' native security measures. To add protection, we recommend:
- Keeping your Mac up to date
- Enabling FileVault (full-disk encryption)
- Using a strong password on your user account
8. Future sync services
We are evaluating an optional end-to-end encrypted sync service across multiple Macs (and eventually Windows) of the same user. If we launch it, it will be strictly opt-in, clearly communicated, and documented in this Policy before being enabled. Until then, Lexcase remains 100% local.
9. Children
Lexcase is intended for legal professionals. It is not designed for individuals under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Your rights
Because all data lives on your Mac, you are in full control: you can access, modify, export or delete your data at any time from within the App, without asking us or waiting for a response.
11. Changes to this policy
Any material change to this policy will be reflected by updating the date at the top of the document and publishing the new version at this same URL. We recommend reviewing it periodically.
